Trek to Yomi Gameplay
Trek to Yomi is an action game that moves from side to side. There are two types of melee attacks: light attacks are fast but weak, and heavy attacks are slow but strong. When players block at the right time, they can break an enemy’s guard and attack back. Melee attacks can be combined with direction changes to do things like thrust a sword forward or turn quickly to cut enemies who are coming at you from behind. Players have to pay attention to how their opponents fight and act accordingly. For example, if an enemy is ready to block an attack by holding their sword horizontally, the player should stab them by thrusting forward. The player character is given a katana, which is a sword used by samurai. As the game goes on, the player can get new weapons like ozutsu, bo-shurikens, and ranged weapons like bows and arrows. Even though the game is set in the Edo period, it has bosses, creatures from mythology, and other things that aren’t real. The player can also sometimes use environmental hazards to kill their enemies instead of fighting them directly.
The game is played by switching back and forth between free-form exploration and side-scrolling battles with a fixed camera. Even though the game is mostly linear, there are secret areas where players can find extra tools and weapons, as well as health and stamina upgrades. They will also find shrines that heal the players and give them more energy. But you can only use each shrine once per playthrough. The player may also meet friendly non-playable characters who can give them hints about where to go next. The game is meant to be hard, but it also has a cinematic mode that makes it easier. Once the player has finished the game once, they will be able to play in a harder mode where their character will die as soon as they are hit.
